BRASS MONKEY REGATTA - TOUKLEY SC: 7-9 June
Report from Sunday & Monday: 8 & 9 June
Again, plenty of S-SW wind, just like Saturday (see below). I don't have any on-water sailing shots, but here I am (left, the little blue Sabre) amongst the cats. The NS14s dominated on yardstick in the final results.
I managed to capsize 100m off-shore on my way to the start on Monday. I could stand up - just as well as the mast was fast in the weed!! Getting back into the boat is quite difficult in chest high water ... the cat guys reckon you need balls of steel to sail the Toukley Brass Monkey ... I personally thought my Probe thermal top the most useful item over the weekend.
I reckon I will be back next year 'cause the Toukley SC burgers are gr8 :-)

Report from Saturday: 7 June
Two Sabres (Go Grey and Nui Uma) sailed on Saturday in a steady 15-20k SSW breeze. A great outing for Go Grey who had not raced in this strength wind in the boat. The third race was interrupted by a wind squall and low cloud - so both Sabres decided to bail out and head to shore - a good decision - given the fading light and wind strength that came with it. Nui Uma led the Sabre racing, but could not stay ahead of the Laser 4.7.

BYRA 25 MAY 2014 - LAUNCH OF SABRE FLEET AT BYRA
Four Sabres sailed in the first BYRA Frostbite on the glorious Pittwater, between BYRA club and Scotland Island. The light westerly allowed us to complete two short course races. Several of the BYRA club members commented on the turnout of four Sabres, and we all fielded questions from passers-by. Mal and Diddy have each purchased their Sabre from Victoria. Diddy made the trip earlier in the year and has been sailing at Connells Point SC. Mal made his trip very recently, so today was his inaugural race in "Go Grey".After sailing, the BYRA club deck was bathed in Sydney sunshine, where we enjoyed a sausage sizzle, cake and cool drinks. It was a great day enjoyed by everyone. The BYRA club has a rich history of sailors and dinghy champions. We hope that the Sabre sailors will be part of the club's future achievements.
Who's who:
On the BYRA deck (L to R); Mal, Sue, Diddy & Roger; "Go Grey" (L to R); Roger, Mal, Diddy & Sue
